Smart logs best mobile latency

Smart Communications Inc. showed lowest mobile latency, logging the fastest connection during tests, according to global network testing firm Ookla.

In the latest analysis of Ookla’s speed test intelligence, Smart led competitors with a median latency of 45.89 milliseconds (ms) in the first half of the 2025.

The recent findings was a slight improvement from the second half report last year at 46 ms, where Smart kept its position among other networks providing the lowest latency.

Latency serves as an indicator of how fast the data travels from the device to a server. Lower numbers means faster and more responsive internet connection, while higher latency implies a delay typically experienced in online gaming, buffering in streaming or lags in video calls.

“These are everyday activities that have become essential in the digital world, and as we continuously improve our network, our goal is always to stay ahead of customers’ evolving needs,” said Debbie M. Hu, first vice president and head of Wireless Networks at Smart.

Ookla obtained the results based on millions of tests taken by Filipino users, reflecting the actual experience of Smart and Talk ‘n Text subscribers.
