BIZ BUZZ: CAMPI leadership shift? Atienza in driver’s seat

A change of leadership at the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers in the Philippines (CAMPI) is reportedly set to be announced on Friday, Nov. 28.

After 13 years of the presidency of lawyer Rommel Gutierrez, CAMPI will install Jose Maria “Jing” Atienza, the highest-ranking Filipino executive at Toyota Motor Philippines, where he is executive vice president.

Atienza reportedly won the support of the majority of member-brands.

CAMPI has 28 auto brands in its roster, which is dominated by Japanese manufacturers.

The CAMPI executive committee will meet in the morning before the press launch of next year’s Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) to formalize the assumption of Atienza.

PIMS is being held in the summer for the first time, earlier than its usual last quarter schedule.

Change is in the air, indeed.
