Megaworld to operate ‘world’s biggest Movenpick Hotel’ in Westside City
Megaworld Hotels & Resorts has forged another landmark deal with hospitality group Accor to convert the 1,530-room Grand Westside Hotel into Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside—the largest Mövenpick hotel in the world.
The deal covers brand alignment, systems integration, and operational enhancements. Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside is expected to open before the end of 2026.
“Our partnership with Megaworld represents an important step in strengthening Accor’s footprint in the Philippines, a market that continues to demonstrate strong momentum in both international and domestic travel. Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside will stand as a flagship for our premium portfolio, supported by Accor’s global network and the reach of ALL Accor, which together help drive visibility and demand across key markets,” said Garth Simmons, chief operating officer, Premium, Midscale, and Economy Division for Accor in Asia.
“This landmark hotel reflects our shared ambition to bring elevated, experience-driven hospitality to one of the country’s most dynamic destinations,” Simmons said.
Confidence in the local market
Andrew Langdon, chief development officer for Asia at Accor, added that this partnership with Megaworld for Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside underscores their confidence in the Philippines as a “rapidly expanding market for high-quality, experience-driven hospitality.”
“With increasing visitor arrivals and a growing domestic travel sector, this landmark project represents an opportunity to enhance our premium presence while contributing to the country’s long-term tourism growth,” Langdon said.
For her part, Cleofe Albiso, managing director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, said the opening of the world’s largest Mövenpick is a powerful testament to their group’s efforts to scale their world-class offerings and meet the demands of the broader international market.
“It reflects our commitment to building the right facilities, empowering local talent, and reinforcing our readiness to welcome the rest of the world. This partnership reflects our shared belief that the Philippines is ready to stand as a distinct global destination. As we rebrand Grand Westside Hotel into the world’s largest Mövenpick, we continue to generate more jobs, help drive stronger tourism activity, and open doors for communities to grow alongside this development,” she said.
The agreement marks the second collaboration between the two groups following the successful conversion of Belmont Hotel Mactan into another Accor-branded hotel, Mercure Mactan Cebu.
World-class location
The 19-story, two-tower Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside is located within Megaworld’s 31-hectare Westside City township in the bustling Entertainment City in Parañaque City.
A dedicated sky bridge will connect the hotel directly to the Westside City integrated casino and entertainment complex. It will also be linked to the country’s first Grand Opera House and world-class performance venues that are envisioned to make Manila the “Broadway of Asia.”
Stronger guest traffic
Accor’s global network is seen to amplify the international visibility of Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside, helping drive stronger guest traffic and boosting overall tourism.
Aside from Mövenpick, Accor is a world-renowned force behind iconic hospitality brands like Sofitel, Fairmont, Raffles, Swissotel, among others. Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, meanwhile, is the hospitality arm of property giant Megaworld and the largest owner and operator of homegrown hotel brands in the country.
