HSBC PH hosts gala to mark 150th anniversary

Press Release

HSBC Philippines wrapped up its year-long 150th anniversary celebration with the musical “When Dreams Unfold,” a night of history and music, celebrating its legacy.

Held at the Grand Ballroom of Shangri-La the Fort on Nov. 18, about 600 guests were taken back to 1875 when HSBC Philippines started its operations in Binondo through a timeline of milestones and stories unfolding through the decades, showcasing stories of trust, resilience and shared aspiration.

President Marcos came as a special guest, together with Finance Secretary Frederick Go and other dignitaries, business leaders, customers and partners.

HSBC Group chair Brendan Nelson says: “Throughout our 150-year history in the Philippines, we have always sought to build and maintain long-term relationships with our stakeholders … Our confidence in, and commitment to, the Philippines and to our valued partners here remain as strong as ever.”

The musical featured some of the country’s best artists, accompanied by The Manila Symphony Orchestra, conducted by National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab.

Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Bituin Escalante, Lara Maigue and Ryan Cayabyab performed classic Filipino songs. Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo served as host and Michael Williams as narrator.
