First in Asia: GCash, Klook unveil travel card
Filipino travelers are now entitled to a new payment method as fintech platform GCash teamed up with travel platform Klook to unveil their first travel card in Asia.
On Monday, GCash and Klook announced the features of the travel card, which will be released this December, in time for the upcoming holiday celebrations.
The travel card, powered by global payment technology Visa, is seen to offer low foreign exchange rate—addressing the high cost of money changing, which is a top issue among international travelers.
Besides providing real-time currency conversion, the card charges zero service fee and allows the tracking of peso-converted transactions.
Users of the cards are also entitled to global automated machine access.
The perks extend to vouchers for airport transfers, Klook eSIM and an annual hotel voucher upon activation for new cardholders.
Klook Philippines general manager, Michelle Ho said that the goal was to reward travelers a seamless travel experience.
Empowering Filipinos
“With GCash, we’re taking that commitment a step further. By combining Klook’s expertise in curating top travel experiences with GCash’s trusted financial ecosystem, we’re bringing greater value and ease to every journey, making extraordinary adventures even more possible for more Filipinos,” said Ho.
“At GCash, we’re committed to empowering Filipinos to explore the world with confidence and convenience. The GCash Klook Travel Card lets you pay using your GCash Wallet in over 200 countries—no cash, no signal, no problem,” said Barbara Dapul, G-Xchange Inc. general manager for B2C and chief operating officer.
While waiting for the actual launch, users may sign up for the waitlist. The first 10,000 customers will get to avail the card at its introductory price of P250.
