Southwoods eyes bigger tilt next year
The Southwoods Chairman’s Charity Cup posted another strong turnout this year, prompting organizers to make plans for an even bigger staging in 2026 as the annual tournament continued its tradition of competitive play and charitable support at Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club in Carmona, Cavite.
Jong Sug Han and Raul Magpantay shared top billing after Han captured the low gross title with 37 points and Magpantay ruled the seniors division with 34 points across the Legends and Masters courses.
Lora Roberto matched Han’s 37 points to secure the ladies’ low gross trophy in the premier member-guest tournament, supported by San Miguel Corp. and presented by CSL Construction and Pro-Envirotek Inc.
In the individual divisions, Karim Yu led the winners with 40 points to rule Men’s I. Also claiming titles were Jojo Silverio (43, Men’s II), Gerald Kim (44, Men’s III), Michael Lopez (44, Men’s IV), Seniors I champion Chang Myon Park (40), Seniors II winner Rodolfo delos Reyes (40), Seniors III champion Brian Park (43) and Seniors IV winner Jose Antonio Gonzalez (44). Ladies’ division winners were Claire Ong (39, Ladies I), Helga Rizza Visaya (40, Ladies II) and Sheila Mae Ibañez (39, Ladies III).
Other winners
Jude Eustaquio topped the Sponsors/Guest division with a net 64.
Team play under the Two-Person Aggregate format produced its own set of champions. At the Legends course, Park and Mentz Deguito combined for 79 to win Division I. Bernie Basilan and Art Zuluaga shot 80 to top Division II, while Jojo Lee and Boom Buencamino posted an 83 to rule Division III.
Over at the Masters course, Thirdy Escaño and Alex Ignacio carded an 80 to bag Division I. Terence Sy and Patrick Tanjangco won Division II with an 82 and Levi San Buenaventura and Lopez took Division III with an 80.
