MPTC Luzon tollways free in wee hours of Christmas, New Year

Toll road operator Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) has waived toll fees on all its expressways in Luzon, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Motorists can access the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, Manila-Cavite Expressway, Cavite-Laguna Expressway and NLEx Connector without paying toll fees during the said hours on Dec. 24 to Dec. 25, and on Dec. 31, 2025, to Jan. 1, 2026.

“The toll-free initiative is our way of giving back to motorists. We hope it helps ease their travels during this holiday season,” Metro Pacific Investment Corp and MPTC chair Manuel Pangilinan said.

“We’ve prepared early, deployed full manpower and initiated barrier-up operations, counterflow measures, free towing services and toll-free passage,” he also said.

On Friday, MPTC started its initiative to manage congestion during the holidays by suspending all roadworks and lane closures on its Luzon expressways.

The suspension, which began at 6 a.m. on Dec. 19, remains in effect until 12 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2026. This excludes necessary emergency safety repairs along with the deployment of traffic, toll and emergency and medical response.

The counter lane segments will be accessible for northbound operations, with entry at Balintawak Expansion Plaza on Fridays, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and for southbound operations on Sundays, from 2 p.m. and early Mondays, from 5 a.m.
