The 2025 Philippine golf season was like no other, with the PGT toasting multiple champions even as ICTSI broke ground by establishing the Intercollegiate Tour that aims to strengthen the golf development pipeline using a structured, varsity-level platform awarding World Amateur Golf Ranking points.

Despite academic pressures, natural calamities and logistical challenges, the intercollegiate circuit pushed through, proving its resilience and potential to produce future champions.

In pro golf, Angelo Que finally secured his long-elusive PGT Order of Merit (OOM) crown after a consistent season featuring two victories, multiple podium finishes and total earnings of P1.56 million despite withdrawing from the Valley Golf Challenge due to illness.

Korean Gwon Min-wook opened the PGT season with a dramatic comeback win at The Country Club Invitational, capitalizing after Guido van der Valk’s stunning meltdown in the final hole and sudden death.

Van der Valk rebounded later in the year with a redemption victory at Forest Hills, before Que won the Pradera Verde and Eagle Ridge legs. Keanu Jahns won the Caliraya Springs and Bacolod stops and Rupert Zaragosa dominated at Marapara to validate his rising-star status.

Mindanao legs had drama as Reymon Jaraula prevailed at Del Monte, while Fidel Concepcion and Jeff Lumbo scored breakthrough wins at Apo and South Pacific, respectively, before rookie Carl Corpus closed the season with a victory in the rescheduled Valley leg.

PGT, Inc. general manager Colo Ventosa reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to raising the level of local professional golf and sustaining opportunities for Filipino pros to excel locally and internationally.

Jahns reinforced his rapid rise as the next major force in the country by dominating Van der Valk in the finals to claim the ICTSI The Country Club Match Play Invitational crown, even as Sarah Ababa captured her first OOM title in the Ladies PGT after a season of steady excellence, narrowly edging Florence Bisera in one of the tightest season-long races in tour history.

Mafy Singson also impressed, winning at Eagle Ridge and later dominating the Match Play Invitational, while other standout moments came from Sam Bruce, Chanelle Avaricio, Princess Superal and Pauline del Rosario.

La Salle dominated both men’s and women’s team competitions in the collegiate tour, with Julia Lua winning the women’s individual crown and St. Benilde’s Sean Granada denying a La Salle sweep with a dramatic victory.

The Intercollegiate Tour strengthens the country’s development pipeline with a structured platform to help student-athletes transition from junior to professional golf.
