Globe coverage reaches 96% of Filipinos

Globe Telecom is actively expanding its mobile network, leaving only 4 million of the population uncovered. This, while vowing to reach geographically disadvantaged areas in the country.

As of end-November, the Ayala-led telco tallies 96.33 percent of the Philippine population within its mobile coverage reach. The remaining 3.67 percent Filipinos are located in areas with weak to no mobile signal, largely in geographically isolated and far-flung communities.

To figure out key target locations for expansion, the firm located the areas with less than half of the local population currently having coverage.

Most of these locations are island towns or remote mountain regions that require tailored solutions. The mobile network expansion will be prioritized based on feasibility, projected impact and coordination with relevant agencies.

“Connectivity has become a basic need. For those still waiting to be reached, it’s a lifeline that opens doors to work, learning, financial access, and public services,” said Globe president and CEO Carl Cruz.

Cruz affirmed the telco’s commitment to support government’s “Konektadong Pinoy” initiative, vowing “to close the last remaining coverage gaps.”

In line with this mission, Globe earlier announced an initiative from its broadband segment, through a submarine cable project that links networks in geographically disadvantaged areas in Zamboanga, Isabela de Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. This will begin by mid-2027.

As of the third quarter, Globe’s mobile data segment recorded P25.2 billion in revenues, driven by the continuous expansion of its mobile footprint.
