BOI launches new digital map for investors
The Board of Investments (BOI) has launched a digital mapping tool that enables investors to locate industry clusters, economic zones and academic institutions across the Philippines.
The Academe-Industry Matching (AIM!) GeoMap plots schools and training institutions alongside industrial facilities. It was developed in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education.
This tool complements the BOI’s existing Industry and Investment Geomaps.
However, the AIM! GeoMap has a stronger focus on the education sector. It enables users to identify schools by location and classification. These include mother schools, schools without annexes, annex or extension schools and mobile schools.
Officials say the project helps strengthen the country’s education-to-industry pipeline.
“By working closely with businesses, large or small, we ensure that what happens inside our classrooms remains relevant to the world outside,” says Cilette Liboro Co, assistant secretary at DepEd.
The AIM! GeoMap builds on the broader AIM program that the BOI launched in 2024. It seeks to connect companies with education and training institutions to support workforce development.
This program prioritizes high-value sectors such as aerospace, information technology, semiconductors, automotive manufacturing, including electric vehicles, renewable energy, chemicals and telecommunications.
The platform will serve companies that seek to support schools through scholarships, digital access and improvements to school facilities.
