Conservation scientist conferred TOFIL Award 2025
Conservation scientist Dr. Neil Aldrin Mallari was conferred the TOFIL Award 2025 (The Outstanding Filipino Award), widely regarded as “The Nobel Prize of the Philippines,” under the Nongovernment Organization/Civil Society Category on Jan. 19, 2026, at the Edsa Shangri-La, Manila.
TOFIL honors Filipinos whose lives reflect integrity, excellence, and selfless service to the nation and humanity.
Alongside him, Dr. Maria Minerva Calimag was recognized under the Academic Community Category, Alfredo Pascual under the Government Sector Category, Rene Meily under the Private Sector Category, and Sen. Joseph Victor Ejercito as a Past Outstanding Young Men honoree.
Mallari is the founding president and chief scientist of the Center for Conservation Innovations PH Inc. (CCIPH), where he has led initiatives that integrate scientific research, community engagement, and institutional partnerships. His work has translated environmental science into actionable strategies, protecting ecosystems while supporting sustainable livelihoods for local communities.
Beyond CCIPH, he has served in leadership roles across civil society, academia, and international conservation organizations, mentoring emerging conservation professionals and strengthening collaboration between institutions, communities, and government agencies.
His efforts have contributed to shaping a more inclusive, evidence-based approach and nature-positive future for the Philippines.
The TOFIL Award highlights Mallari’s consistent leadership, vision, and commitment to environmental and social causes. The recognition also acknowledges the collective efforts of partners and communities who have worked alongside him to advance a sustainable and resilient future.
“Building an eco-resilient future requires that we harness this idealism and transform it into tangible outcomes, promoting nature-positive change across communities, policies, and projects. Together, let us remain resolute in our efforts to create a world where humanity and nature prosper in harmony,” he said.
With this accolade, Mallari joins the distinguished roster of Outstanding Filipino Laureates, a group whose work continues to influence national development, civil society, and public service.
