BOC beats January revenue goal

Nyah Genelle C. De Leon

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collected over P80 billion in revenues in the first month of the year, exceeding revenue targets, driven by sustained enforcement operations.

Latest data from the agency showed that revenues had reached P80.74 billion in January, surpassing the month’s target by P513 million, or achieving a 100.6-percent revenue collection efficiency.

Compared with the same period last year, this marked a 1.9 percent increase.

The country’s second-biggest revenue agency attributed the performance to “firm, consistent and continuous enforcement activities,” reporting 66 apprehensions with a combined estimated value of P886.8 million in seized contraband and smuggled products.
