Alternergy switches on P1.4-B Bataan solar park
Alternergy Holdings Corp. has fired up its P1.4-billion solar plant in Bataan, the first out of four projects targeted for commercial operations this year.
In a statement Tuesday, the renewable energy developer said its 28-megawatt-peak (MWp) Balsik solar farm in Hermosa is already injecting power to the grid.
According to Gerry Magbanua, president of Alternergy, the solar facility has the capacity to generate 45,000 megawatt hours of renewable energy every year.
“The Balsik Solar Power Plant expands our growing portfolio of solar assets, reinforcing Alternergy’s commitment to sustainable energy,” Magbanua said.
The other three projects eyed for activation in 2026 include the 4.6-MW Dupinga run-of-river plant, 64-MW Alabat wind park and 128-MW Tanay wind park.
“Alternergy’s core strength is in building power projects from pre-development all the way to the commercial phase,” Magbanua said.
“This is most evident as we bring in four projects online and start a steady flow of revenues for the company starting this year,” he added.
At present, Alternergy owns and operates 11 solar parks. These include ground-mounted facilities, commercial rooftop solar and solar with a battery energy storage system (BESS).
Alternergy said it already received five certificates of award from the Department of Energy. These are for its five projects with a total of 500 MW of capacity.
They include the Liberty Floating Solar, Phase A and Phase B, projects in Tarlac. These will be among the earliest large-scale floating solar projects in the country.
