LTFRB suspends 3 transport network firms for violations

Dianne Sampang

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended three transport network companies (TNCs) for a year over franchise violations.

In a statement on Friday, the LTFRB said Leggo Information Technology Solutions, Get Express Global Corp. and Ipara Technology and Solutions Inc. did not respond to the show-cause orders issued to them for failure to comply with guidelines of ride-hailing services in the country, particularly on the “absence of active and internet-based technology for their partners and clients.”

“They were given all the chance to respond and explain the violations they committed, but they failed to do so. This is what happens when you ignore or disregard legal notices from the LTFRB, you will suffer the consequences of your action,” LTFRB Chair Vigor Mendoza said in a statement.

Comply with orders

Mendoza then noted that proper advisories were already issued regarding the suspension of the three TNCs. With this, he encouraged commuters and ride-hailing services applicants not engage or transact with the suspended companies.

“The decision is part of the LTFRB’s authority to regulate public land transportation services and to enforce compliance with its rules and orders, including the authority to suspend or cancel authorizations and impose regulatory measures for the protection of the riding public,” Mendoza added.

He then reminded TNCs to abide by regulations set by the LTFRB “to ensure a smooth transaction and operation of their services.”
