BIZ BUZZ: Premier banking goes gourmet

The relaunched HSBC Premier, the global bank’s wealth and premier banking unit, is setting an ambitious target: doubling its base of affluent clients in the Philippines within the next three to five years.

And one way it plans to do that is through the stomach.

HSBC Premier clients now enjoy freebies and discounts at four Michelin-recognized restaurants in the Philippines—less than a year after the establishments received their distinctions. These include Michelin-starred Hapag and Kasa Palma, as well as Michelin-selected Yamazato and Yawaragi.

The bank isn’t stopping there. HSBC Philippines is currently in talks with six more Michelin-recognized restaurants and hopes to finalize partnerships within the next two months.

But the perks extend well beyond dining.

The enhanced HSBC Premier offering also bundles health care and protection services. Frequent travelers also get extra perks through the Premier Travel card, including a 0.99 percent foreign exchange rate on international transactions.
