BIZ BUZZ: BAP’s historic moment on women’s month

Ian Nicolas P. Cigaral

In a historic moment, the Philippines’ premier group of big banks welcomes its first female leader this National Women’s Month.

We’re talking about Ana Aboitiz-Delgado, who has been elected president of the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP).

Aboitiz-Delgado, president and CEO of Union Bank of the Philippines, will succeed Jose Teodoro Limcaoco, CEO of Bank of the Philippine Islands, who completed a two-year term heading the BAP.

A seasoned digital trailblazer and fifth-generation Aboitiz family scion, Aboitiz-Delgado steered UnionBank through its bold digital transformation when she was still its chief customer experience officer and chief digital channels officer—proving she’s equally at home in boardrooms and on innovation front lines.

With her election, the BAP isn’t just making history—it’s signaling that the future of Philippine banking is smart, agile and unmistakably inclusive.
