A new reason to smile in Negros
Negros Occidental has a new reason to smile.
La Sonrisa, the newest masterplanned community of trusted developer Suntrust Properties Inc., broke ground in Talisay City in a festive ceremony held on March 21. The event brought together the company’s top executives, employees, investors, and future homeowners to celebrate the start of a new chapter in Negrense living.

Future-ready community
La Sonrisa—a Spanish phrase that means “the smile”—serves as Suntrust’s love letter to the province that gave the world the MassKara Festival. While that famous event began as a way to uplift a people facing tragedy in the 1980s, it has evolved into a global symbol of the progress and potential of Negros Occidental.
La Sonrisa pays homage to those same things.

“Negros [Occidental] continues to demonstrate strong potential as a premier residential and investment destination,” said Suntrust president Atty. Harrison M. Paltongan. “Through La Sonrisa, we hope to contribute to the province’s progress while giving families the opportunity to own homes in a thriving and future-ready community.”
La Sonrisa is the third major Suntrust project in the province, following the success of The Fountain Grove, a 24.52-ha enclave in Bacolod City, and La Riviera, a 23.55-ha village in Cadiz City. Both projects were well-received for delivering a modern standard of living to a region known for its sophisticated taste.

Attainable yet distinctive
With this latest undertaking, Suntrust brings its tried-and-tested formula to Talisay City: attainable, distinctive homes in centrally located, masterplanned communities.
La Sonrisa sits on a prime 15-ha property within The Sugartown township, which is being developed by property giant Megaworld Corp., the parent firm of Suntrust Properties. This strategic location ensures convenience and new lifestyle experiences unfolding daily.
A thriving district
Over the next decade, the area is set to become a thriving district featuring premium commercial, retail and residential developments.
However, residents will not have to wait years to enjoy the connectivity La Sonrisa offers. The site already provides seamless access to key landmarks, including the Bacolod-Silay Airport, Talisay City Hall, and the iconic ruins of the Mariano Lacson mansion. It is also just minutes away from Bacolod City’s major business districts, schools and hospitals.
This address was designed to meet the exacting standards of local homebuyers. Its modern contemporary homes are built for families who seek comfort and functionality without compromising on style.

La Sonrisa offers four distinct home options: Enya (bungalow duplex), Kyra (two-story duplex), Gaia (bungalow single attached), and Ana (two-story single attached). These models provide ample space for households to share moments while maintaining necessary privacy.

Vibrant community
Beyond the houses, the village fosters a vibrant community life.
A multipurpose hall serves as a hub for neighborhood gatherings, while the active set can enjoy the basketball court and swimming pool. Pocket parks also dot the development. A perimeter fence and an entryway with a guardhouse foster peace of mind for residents.
All these premium experiences come at affordable prices, fulfilling Suntrust’s mission to make homeownership a dream-come-true that Filipinos can smile about.
“La Sonrisa reflects Suntrust’s commitment to providing quality homes for hardworking Filipino families,” Paltongan added. “…[W]e aim to create communities where residents can build their futures in a safe and well-connected environment.”
