Woman stranded at QC bus terminal after failed job hunt

A 53-year-old woman has been waiting patiently since the weekend at the Victory Bus Liner terminal in Quezon City since the weekend, not for a bus ride but for a job offer.

“I am just here to look for a job as a house helper,” Carmen Pepito dela Cruz told the Inquirer on Monday. She said she came to Manila from Iligan City late last month.

So far, she has had no luck despite going to Baguio City, Olongapo City and Makati.

For the past two days, she has spent the night at the Cubao terminal, relying on the kindness of strangers moved by her plight.

“One time, someone gave me siopao and water,” she said.

“Also, the people here in Victory aren’t strict; they did not ask me to leave.”

As for going back home, she said her parents and her home were already gone.
