BIZ BUZZ: Pinoy pizza joint steps up

Much of the conversation on rising prices has focused on basic goods (rightly so) as fuel costs climb amid the Middle East war. Yet other less-essential food players are also quietly stepping in to help Filipino consumers cope with the pinch.

For instance, Biz Buzz earlier reported that Mary Grace, known for its cheese rolls and ensaymada, is holding off on price increases. Now, cult-favorite 3M Pizza announced it is doing the same.

“With the rising prices of oil and other commodities, we know these are challenging times for everyone,” the pizza parlor, which rose to prominence in Metro Manila during the 1980s, said on social media. “But for now, we’ve decided not to increase our prices. Kami muna ang sasalo.”

“This is our small way of saying thank you for always supporting us, for choosing us, and for being part of our journey,” it added.

For the pizza joint’s loyal fan base, this would mean prices would remain as low as P75 for a 6-inch pizza.

For 3M Pizza, which has been around since 1969, the message is simple: Conversations about rising costs should not stop at staples. There is also room to protect the “little things in life,” pizza included.
