Citicore activates 125-MW solar farm in Pangasinan

Citicore Renewable Energy Corp. (CREC) has switched on another solar facility, this time boosting the grid with its 125-megawatt peak (MWp) solar farm in Pangasinan.

The company on Monday said that its Citicore Solar Pangasinan in Sta. Barbara and Calasiao have begun injecting power into the country’s grid system, enough to energize about 100,000 households.

To protect the asset from flooding, CREC said the facility was created with an elevated solar panel design.

“Our responsibility to deliver clean energy solutions includes not only sustainability, but also resilience,” Oliver Tan, president and CEO of CREC, said in a statement.

“Renewable energy can be thoughtfully designed, integrating stronger materials to mitigate external risks, while considering benefits to our other initiatives, such as AgroSolar,” he added.

The solar development was among the winning projects of CREC in the government’s second round of green energy auction.

Obtaining a victory from this power bidding—intended to expand the share of renewable energy in the power mix—means a developer also secures a long-term offtake contract.

Just in March, the firm also provided a needed power supply lift to the Visayas grid with the activation of its 69-MWp Citicore Solar Negros Occidental 2 Solar power plant.

Tan previously said that the project was one of CREC’s biggest solar facilities in the region.

The Edgar Saavedra-led firm said the solar plant could be expanded to up to 100 MWp total capacity, although no details on the target timeline were provided.

The group has already activated more than half of its commitments under the Green Energy Auction Program 2. The remaining five facilities are expected to go online “in the coming months.”

CREC has investments in solar, wind and hydro projects across the Philippines.

It finished 2025 with a 14-percent jump in net income to P1.15 billion.

Consolidated revenues went up by 3 percent to P5.32 billion, driven by sustained power sales amounting to P4.29 billion.
