Marcos: ‘Big’ price rollback for diesel at P24.94 per Liter

Dianne Sampang

President Marcos on Saturday asked oil companies to fully implement rollbacks on fuel products as he announced another round of price reductions next week, with diesel prices expected to be slashed by almost P25 per liter.

In a video message posted on Facebook, Mr. Marcos said the price of diesel will be lowered by P24.94 per liter, while gasoline and kerosene will see a rollback of P3.41 and P2 per liter, respectively.

“This is bigger than the rollback a week ago and this sends a clear message for everyone: there is relief coming,” Mr. Marcos said in Filipino.

“And to our oil companies, my request is clear: Fully implement the rollback, do it right and with no delays. Give the Filipinos what they deserve,” he added.

This is the second rollback implemented this year, specifically since the United States-Iran war on Feb. 28 that triggered oil price shocks globally.

On April 14, local fuel retailers implemented price rollbacks of as much as P23 per liter for diesel. Gasoline prices also dropped by P4.43 to P5.40 per liter, while kerosene went down by P8.50 to P11.50 per liter.

The President also urged the public to report to his office and the Department of Energy complaints regarding fuel products and vowed to take swift action on them.

He noted that aside from the service contracting program and P10 per liter fuel subsidy for public utility vehicle drivers, the Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Office will extend by three months the validity of licenses and registrations expiring by April 2026. The penalties for late renewal during the extension period will also be waived.

“Every cent in rollback should be felt by every Filipino. We know how important time is for every Filipino. It should be spent with families, in school, and at work. It should not be wasted on waiting in line,” Mr. Marcos said.
