Globe taps MPower to energize data centers

Globe Telecom Inc.’s data center arm, STT GDC Philippines, has tapped Meralco retail supplier MPower to provide supply to its Quezon City and Cavite facilities with renewable energy under a 10-year supply deal.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ayala-led telco operator said that STT GDC Philippines secured 40.5 megawatts (MW) of clean energy for its STT Fairview 1 and STT Cavite data center campuses.

“By securing long-term renewable energy, we are ensuring that the mission-critical platforms our customers depend on every day are powered by sustainable sources, keeping carbon neutrality at the core of our operations,” said STT GDC Philippines president and CEO Carlo Malana.

STT Fairview 1, which opened in 2025, has an IT load capacity of 28 MW. The company is planning three additional data centers in Fairview, each with a capacity of 32 MW. However, these are not yet covered by the MPower agreement.

In Cavite, STT GDC Philippines operates two facilities: STT Cavite 1 with more than 4 MW of capacity and STT Cavite 2, which is expected to deliver 6 MW.

Globe said that the renewable energy deal forms part of STT GDC Philippines’ target to achieve carbon-neutral operations by 2030.

“AI (artificial intelligence) and digital services are evolving at an unprecedented pace and the infrastructure supporting them must scale responsibly,” Malana added.

STT GDC Philippines is a joint venture between ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Globe and the Ayala Group. It has built nine data centers across Cavite, Davao and Metro Manila, with a combined IT load capacity of 146 MW.
