Iloilo air stays safe as haze affects other areas
ILOILO CITY—Air quality in Metro Iloilo remains within acceptable levels despite haze reports in Metro Cebu and parts of Metro Manila, according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources–Environmental Management Bureau (DENR–EMB) in Western Visayas.
In its monitoring on Tuesday, the regional EMB reported Air Quality Index (AQI) readings ranging from “good” to “fair” across all stations in Iloilo.

Oton and San Miguel stations recorded “good” air quality, with AQI levels of 41 and 29, respectively, based on particulate matter (PM10) measurements.
Meanwhile, Pavia and the Garden of Love station posted “fair” levels, with AQI readings of 99, 61, and 54, based on PM2.5 data.
Authorities said the readings remain within acceptable standards but advised caution for vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory illnesses.
The advisory was issued amid haze conditions reported in other major urban areas, raising concerns over possible regional effects due to shifting wind patterns and weather conditions.
EMB Western Visayas said it continues to closely monitor the situation in Western Visayas, noting that air quality may change depending on pollution sources and meteorological factors.
The agency assured the public it will provide timely updates and issue advisories if conditions worsen.
In Metro Cebu, the air quality has improved as shifting winds help disperse haze in the region, the EMB in Central Visayas said Tuesday. The EMB attributed the improvement to stronger winds reducing pollutant levels. —WITH A REPORT FROM LEO UDTOHAN
