Aircraft lessor ABL Aviation expands into PH
Global aircraft lessor ABL Aviation has opened a technical hub in Manila, expanding its footprint in the Asia-Pacific region. This happens as airlines ramp up operations despite ongoing aircraft supply constraints linked to the Middle East crisis.
The new hub will support aircraft inspections, lease management and technical oversight for the Ireland-based company’s growing portfolio in the region. These include operations with partners in Vietnam, Japan, Taiwan, China and South Korea.
“The Manila office is a natural step in our Asian expansion,” said ABL Aviation founder and CEO Ali Ben Lmadani. “A dedicated technical presence ensures the oversight and execution that our platform is known for.”
ABL Aviation already has offices in Hong Kong, Tokyo, New York, Dublin, Casablanca and Dubai.
Donal O’Shea, chief technical officer, will lead the facility. He will oversee operations and ensure alignment with the firm’s global standards.
O’Shea said the move is aimed at improving responsiveness to airline partners as demand for aircraft in the region continues to grow.
“Asia-Pacific remains a key region for ABL Aviation, with strong airline growth and increasing demand for aircraft,” he said.
“Establishing a technical team on the ground allows us to enhance our responsiveness, support our partners more effectively and maintain the highest standards across our portfolio,” he added.
This expansion comes as carriers in the region rebuild capacity following the pandemic, even as aircraft deliveries remain constrained, pushing lessors to play a larger role in fleet expansion and management.
ABL Aviation said that the Manila hub is part of a broader push to strengthen its in-house technical capabilities across the aircraft lifecycle, from delivery to lease transitions.
