PNP warns individuals posing as DPWH personnel
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. on Thursday flagged the growing number of cases of individuals allegedly impersonating Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials.
“The DPWH has reported a rising number of similar cases nationwide, where individuals falsely present themselves as agency personnel to gain access to projects and vulnerable communities,” Nartatez said in a statement.
He added that he had ordered the PNP to launch a thorough investigation of the purported scheme, although he did not give any details about the supposed cases.
The PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested on June 14 two women who posed as DPWH central office personnel and conducted a “surprise and confidential inspection” of the DPWH Davao City office for damage caused by the recent earthquake.
The DPWH Manila main office, however, denied that the two were its employees.
