SkyFlakes maker pours P5B for new factory
Monde M.Y. San Corp., the maker of some of the Philippines’ best-known biscuit brands, is investing P5 billion in a new manufacturing facility in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
This facility will rise inside the 250-hectare TECO Industrial Park-Special Economic Zone and is expected to begin commercial operations by 2027, according to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (Peza).
Founded in 1935, Monde M.Y. San manufactures household brands such as SkyFlakes, Fita and M.Y. San Graham.
“Monde M.Y. San’s decision to locate its new manufacturing facility within the TECO Industrial Park highlights the competitiveness of Philippine ecozones in supporting large-scale, high-value manufacturing investments,” Peza said.
The agency said the project is expected to generate jobs while strengthening Central Luzon’s food manufacturing sector and expanding Peza’s manufacturing investment base.
This is not Monde M.Y. San’s first investment in a Peza-registered economic zone.
In 2009, the company invested $28 million in a 66,000-square-meter manufacturing plant at the Carmelray Industrial Park in Calamba, Laguna, then billed as the country’s largest automated biscuit manufacturing facility.
In a separate development, Peza signed a contract for the development of a 31-megawatt-peak embedded solar power facility at the Cavite Economic Zone.
The project will be developed and operated by IP Solar Corp., a subsidiary of IP Ventures Management Ltd.
