Xpeng launches six EV variants, invests in premium-level customer support
Xpeng’s X2 flying car hovered over the stage at the Mall of Asia Arena (on wires for now), marking the climax of the brand’s Philippine launch. The Chinese AI company and car brand chose wisely for its launch models, already available for reservation. These are the Xpeng L03 crossover, and the X9 large MPV.
The L03 is a midsize crossover measuring 4650mm long x 1920mm wide x 1600mm tall, with a 2850mm wheelbase. Key design elements include “starship” headlights with over 400 LED beads, full-width “star ring” taillights, frameless doors and mirrors, and low 0.228 drag coefficient. The cabin features 15.6-inch central touchscreen, 26.8-inch windshield head-up display, “Hey XPeng” voice assistant, available ventilated and massaging front seats, 20-speaker sound system, hidden air vents, 256-color ambient lighting, and reclinable back seats. The 539-liter trunk is augmented with a 102-liter front trunk.
Xpeng L03 will come in four variants:
Rear Wheel Drive Standard Range with up to 445km range at P1,548,000
Rear Wheel Drive Long Range EV with 520km range at P1,698,000
RWD Long Range Ultra EV with 480km range at P2,058,000
PowerX Long Range Range-extender EV with 215km electric range and 1017 combined range at P1,598,000
Colors are Arctic White, Midnight Black, Rock Gray, Silver Frost, and Phantom Purple, paired with a Dark Gray interior.
For families and individuals who want the luxury of space, there’s the Xpeng X9 seven-seat electric MPV. The Xpeng X9 measures 5316mm x 1988mm wide x 1785mm tall, with a 3160mm wheelbase. The X9 includes features usually found only in luxury vehicles, such as air suspension, power-folding third row seats, and massage chairs. Rear-wheel steering allows the X9 to maneuver efficiently in tight spaces, as it has a turning radius of just 5.4 meters.
The Xpeng X9 Long Range starts at P3,858,000. It features “zero-gravity” seats separated by a central aisle, allowing passengers to cross from second to third rows. The X9 with Premium Seat package starts at P4,058,000. It features second-row seats with 16-point massage. A 110 kWh battery provides up to 615km of driving range, with 235 kW (320ps) and 450Nm.
Midnight Black, Arctic White, Matte Gray, and the special-order Silver Frost are the exterior color choices. Interior comes in Meteorite black or the special-order Coffee.
If the Xpeng L03 and X9 look particularly stylish for an SUV and an MPV, it’s thanks to the efforts of the design team led by JuanMa Lopez. Mr. Lopez has worked at Lamborghini, Audi, and Ferrari, where he contributed to the design of iconic models like the SF 90 Stradale and LaFerrari.
While the Xpeng L03 and X9’s design, feature set, and especially price made them immediately enticing, the other aspects of Xpeng were equally intriguing.
First off, Xpeng considers itself to be primarily an artificial intelligence company. Cars are only one application of their AI expertise. Other aspects include the Iron humanoid robot and the company’s flying cars like the X2. Xpeng develops key technologies in-house, including their AI Turing chip. A single Turing chip delivers 750 trillions of operations per second (TOPS) of computing power, potentially paving the way for Level 4 autonomous driving.
“Tonight, Filipino customers saw the full range of choices behind our Philippine debut, from the space and comfort of the XPENG X9 to the different electric driving options offered by the XPENG L03,” said Katoon Su, Country Director of XPENG Philippines. “We are pairing these vehicles with comprehensive ownership support and a growing dealer network because the customer experience after the launch matters just as much as the technology presented on stage.”
Customers may reserve the XPENG X9 for ₱25,000 or the XPENG L03 for ₱10,000 by sending a message to @xpengphilippines on Facebook or Instagram. Deliveries to customers are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Xpeng highlighted four commitments during its Philippine launch: leading products, premium service, exceptional experience, and ecosystem partnership. Premium service includes a 5 year / 150,000km vehicle warranty and 8-year / 160,000 km battery and drive unit warranty. Two years of free preventive maintenance service, and five years of free roadside assistance are standard as well. The EVs will come with a 7kW wall charger, while the L03 REEV includes a 3.5 kW portable charger.
Xpeng promises quick parts fulfillment, thanks in part to a 2000 square-meter spare parts central warehouse. Xpeng says that exceptional experience will be part of the ownership, thanks to dealers who are experienced in providing service worthy of luxury brands from Germany and Japan. Xpeng is also committed to having Filipino technicians at every dealership, trained to world-class standards. That’s an aspect of service and commitment that we can certainly appreciate.
