Law Roach’s most iconic celebrity stylings
Unless you are completely oblivious to the world of Hollywood, you have definitely laid witness to Law Roach’s momentous work. It is most likely that your exposure to his red carpet genius is through Zendaya, one of the most well-loved movie stars of this generation.
And yet, what many don’t realize is that Roach is behind many more iconic looks. It’s impossible to list each one—as every press tour produces plenty—but perhaps these fashion moments should be the first to surface from the archives.

1. Zendaya at the 2026 Emmy Awards
We should begin with the most recent. Zendaya has served look upon look this year as her blockbusters keep rolling—from “The Drama” to “The Odyssey” to “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” Not to mention “Dune: Part Three” coming out just before the year ends.
Picking from all her red carpet appearances puts me in a tricky position, but if there’s anything I love, it’s a throwback with a twist. Zendaya wore a custom Prada dress that sparkled from head to toe. But despite its shiny allure, it wasn’t quite the center of attention.
Instead, everyone had their eyes on her pixie cut. If you’re thinking that this look feels rather nostalgic, that’s because it’s a reference to the one and only Halle Berry.
Attending a Hollywood awards ceremony dressed as a nod to the first Black woman to win an Oscar for Best Actress? Now that’s the way to do it.
2. Zendaya’s first appearance at the Academy Awards
Zendaya ought to make at least two appearances on this list because it just wouldn’t be proper not to go way back. Before Zendaya was the fashion icon she is now, she was just a young girl on the red carpet. Unfortunately, the terrain isn’t always easy to navigate, especially for young Black women in the industry.
On multiple occasions, Roach has shared instances of designers being unreceptive to requests on her behalf. According to him, Zendaya was not quite famous enough for major fashion houses such as Chanel, Saint Laurent, Dior, Gucci, and Valentino to bother to work with her.
But she and Roach made their mark anyway. Zendaya showed up to the Oscars for the first time in 2015, where she wore a custom Vivienne Westwood silk-satin gown and locs that cascaded close to her waist. It was a bold move to wear her hair that way at the time, as she had wanted to emphasize the beauty of textured hair.

3. Naomi Osaka at this year’s US Open
Roach is not just behind looks that make an impact in the world of film but also in the world of tennis. He was behind Naomi Osaka’s 2026 tribute to Allen Iverson, in which she wore a custom hooded gown filled with newspaper clippings about her and later removed the hood to reveal a head of cornrows.
This look is another example of Roach’s reputation for amplifying Black culture through his work. He has mastered the art of alluding to fashion history as he and Osaka skillfully honored the man widely known for introducing streetwear to the NBA—effectively shifting the style and culture of professional basketball forever.

4. Hunter Schafer for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in 2023
While Roach may excel in referencing iconic moments from the past, he is also brilliant in delivering groundbreaking looks for posterity. If there’s a look that demonstrates Roach’s profound understanding of his clients’ style and personalities, it’s this Ann Demeulemeester fall/winter 2023 look he dressed Hunter Schafer in.
Schafer wore a long, low-waist silk ivory skirt and a single-feather bandeau. She was by far the most regal woman that night with her wavy hair and bare chest.
Ask anyone who has seen pictures of her from that night, and they’ll say she looked like a real-life Aphrodite—straight out of Sandro Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus.”

5. Ariana Grande at the 2018 Met Gala
Speaking of heavenly bodies, let’s not forget Ariana Grande at her first Met Gala in 2018. Roach dressed her in a custom ball gown by Vera Wang that featured another Renaissance painting—Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgement.”
This look was just ahead of Grande’s hit song “God is a Woman,” and she and Roach took great care to prove it. Along with Blake Lively in Versace and Rihanna in Maison Margiela, it was one of the night’s most memorable moments.
6. Ariana Grande at “Wicked: One Wonderful Night”
This final look also goes out to Grande because I would be remiss not to mention her looks from the “Wicked” press tours. One of my favorite looks was when she wore this custom Robert Wun dress in which she performed “Thank Goodness.”
And thank goodness, indeed, because she was absolutely breathtaking in her pink voluminous gown filled with the flutter of more than a dozen butterflies. Roach definitely knew what he was doing choosing Robert Wun as this look’s architect, as Grande appeared as if she had come straight from the Land of Oz.
