76 aliens involved in online scam operations arrested
A total of 76 foreign nationals believed to be involved in Philippine offshore gaming operator or Pogo-related activities have been arrested by immigration agents in Quezon City.
The Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Tuesday that during a raid held the previous day in Barangay Socorro, Cubao, the foreigners were found engaged in online scamming activities.
“Initial identification showed that the group consisted of 74 Chinese nationals and two Myanmar nationals,” the BI said.
The apprehended individuals are undergoing inquest proceedings and will face deportation.
“Upon the issuance of deportation orders, they will be placed on the BI’s blacklist, barring their future re-entry into the Philippines,” it added.
Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado also reaffirmed the bureau’s commitment to crack down on Pogo-related activities in the country, pursuant to Republic Act No. 12312, or the Anti-Pogo Act of 2025.
