Lamborghini Urus SE Performante debuts in Taiwan
TAIPEI, Taiwan — Automobili Lamborghini has officially landed the new Urus SE Performante in Taipei, giving Taiwanese enthusiasts, media, and owners their first up-close look at the high-performance plug-in hybrid Super SUV.
Taiwan marks only the second market in the region to launch the new Performante variant, following South Korea. I was fortunate to be on the ground to witness this important milestone for the brand. The Urus remains Lamborghini’s single biggest volume seller, having produced and sold more than 35,000 units since its global debut in the spring of 2018. Today, it accounts for roughly 60 percent of the company’s total production output and sales worldwide.
Building on the plug-in hybrid Urus SE, the Performante option strips away weight, sharpens handling, and focuses squarely on track-ready dynamic response—all without sacrificing the daily versatility that made the SUV a global blockbuster. The launch event also featured an interactive Ad Personam lounge, giving guests a chance to build their ideal specification and walk away with a custom printed collectible card showcasing their build.

Under the hood, the Urus SE Performante combines a high-output 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with a permanent-magnet electric motor. Working in unison, this hybrid setup pushes out an astonishing 812 CV (597 kW) and 1,000 Nm of torque. The performance metrics are formidable: the Super SUV launches from rest to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds, and tops out at a maximum speed of 312 km/h.
Compared to the standard Urus SE, the Performante sheds 32 kilograms, bringing its power-to-weight ratio down to an impressive 3.0 kg/CV. Carbon fiber is used extensively across the bodywork to cut excess mass, while a lightweight titanium Akrapovič sports exhaust system further reduces weight while letting the twin-turbo V8 sing its signature howl.
To manage all that hybrid power, Lamborghini equipped the Performante with the new AURA dual-chamber air suspension system, broadening the gap between comfortable everyday cruising and sharp track performance.

Chassis behavior is continuously managed by a six-degrees-of-freedom (6D) sensor working alongside an Integrated Power Brake system. On top of the standard Strada, Sport, and Corsa settings, a re-tuned Rallymode extends driver engagement across loose or low-friction surfaces.
This sharper character is overtly communicated through functional aerodynamic design. Up front, a new carbon-fiber bonnet featuring integrated S-Duct air intakes optimizes engine cooling and increases front-axle downforce. At the rear, redesigned aerodynamic elements—including a functional rear spoiler and an enlarged carbon diffuser—work in tandem to boost high-speed stability.
Inside, the driver-centric cabin reinforces Lamborghini’s signature “Feel like a Pilot” philosophy, pairing exposed carbon-fiber details with specialized materials tailored for high-performance driving.
The Taiwan premiere underscores the strategic significance of the market within the broader Asia-Pacific territory. As Francesco Scardaoni, Region Director of Automobili Lamborghini Asia Pacific, noted during the reveal, 75 percent of Lamborghini owners in Taiwan currently possess at least one Urus model.
Scardaoni highlighted that many clients who begin their brand journey with the Super SUV frequently expand their collections to include the marque’s mid-engine super sports cars. With the arrival of the Urus SE Performante, Lamborghini builds upon this regional momentum by offering heightened driving precision without sacrificing everyday usability.

During our time at the event, we also had the opportunity to pick Signor Scardaoni’s mind and delve deeper into Lamborghini’s near future.
First and foremost, there will always be a screaming internal combustion engine at the heart of every Lamborghini model, despite receiving electrification to aid performance and reduce emissions.
Second, Lamborghini remains committed to featuring the extreme across performance, engineering, and design—a Lamborghini is never meant to be something for everyone, but rather for a specific clientele that values uniqueness, rarity, and confidence.
Finally, the brand remains dedicated to its Direzione Cor Tauri electrification strategy without abandoning its core clientele who crave passion and emotion, delivering a sensory experience where you can see, hear, feel, and even smell the presence of a Lamborghini. With sales continually climbing year after year, the marque remains on a bright, exciting, and sustainable path forward.
