Royal Cargo expands Plaridel operations
Royal Cargo Inc. plans to add meat cutting operations to its facility in Plaridel, Bulacan to support the rising demand for processed meat products nationwide.
The Philippine-based multinational logistics and supply chain solutions provider thus seeks to amend its environmental compliance certificate to integrate meat cutting and meat marination into its existing cold storage and logistics operations in the province.
“By integrating meat processing activities within the current warehouse facility, the project optimizes the use of existing infrastructure without expanding land area,” Royal Cargo said in its submission to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ Environmental Management Bureau.
The company is implementing the project as local demand for processed meat products is projected to steadily increase at an annual growth rate of over 3 percent.
This was largely driven “by rapid urbanization and an increasing consumer preference for convenient, ready-to-cook meal solutions—such as localized Filipino processed favorites like tocino, longganisa, and ham.”
“Furthermore, with local meat imports rising sharply—including a 22 percent year-over-year surge in volume to meet domestic supply deficits—this integrated hub directly minimizes logistics gaps and curtails product spoilage,” the company said.
Royal Cargo is adding meat cutting and meat marination activities within its Plaridel facility by optimizing existing floor space and infrastructure. It intends to streamline processing, storage and distribution within a single facility.
