Lamoiyan Corp., the company behind homegrown toothpaste brand “Hapee,” is spending roughly P150 million to expand to cosmetics this year.

On the sidelines of an event hosted by the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce Industry Inc. (FFCCCII) last week, Cecilio Pedro, company president and chief executive, said the expansion would involve both production and importation of cosmetic products like makeup and skincare.“I’m expanding my production and expanding my coverage. We’re getting more products into the basket so we can sell to the market,” said Pedro, who is also the president of FFCCCII.Apart from oral care products, Lamoiyan also produces the popular “Dazz” dishwashing soap and “Licealiz” product for lice infestation. The company was founded in 1988.

Hiking capacity

To accommodate the planned production of cosmetic products, Pedro said Lamoiyan would add one more hectare to its 3-hectare (ha) factory in Parañaque City.

“We’re building additional space,” he said.
