A few weeks ago, the media, bank partners and other stakeholders were dazzled by what the ‘rebranded BAIC’ had to offer to the local automotive market. Now, with the 2024 Manila International Auto Show being just around the corner, BAIC Philippines is ready to take on a bigger stage to showcase its slew of vehicle offerings.
From SUVs to crossovers, the brand BAIC, now under the wing of United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI), is prepped to sparkle.
Snugged at the confines of the World Trade Center in Pasay City, BAIC’s booth is parading the following vehicles.
X55 Verve
Amid a sea of cutthroat competition among compact crossovers, BAIC is unleashing into the fray its X55 Verve. This handsome package is packed with class-leading features ready to face head on other contenders. It’s equipped with Advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) features, notably its traffic jam assist and automatic parking assist, as well as hands-free power tailgate.
Under its hood is a powerful and award-winning yet efficient 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four engine, mated to a seven-speed wet-type dual-clutch gearbox, that produces 188 hp and 305 N-m of torque.
X7 Grandeza
The X55 Verve may be a pretty package. But what’s grander is BAIC’s X7 Grandeza as it’s bigger and more spacious, not to mention donning more luxurious features. Its premium features consist of ottoman seats with heating and ventilation that go well with massage functions that can rival other European models. It’s likewise with ADAS features and a host of infotainment amenities.
B40 Ragnar
From crossovers, we now go to the brand’s bigger SUVs. One of them is the BAIC Series 40 Ragnar SUV. This confident brute is equipped to tackle any off-road terrain. A behemoth in its own respect, this SUV carries a 2.0L Aucan turbo diesel engine, mated to an eight-speed ZF transmission and a BorgWarner four-wheel drive system, churning out 380 N-m of torque. The outdoors then can be more cherished with its built-in camera that can record every journey. This is then complemented with removable roof panels for a better picturesque view of nature and all its wonders.
B80 Wagon
Another SUV that can rival the best in its segment is the BAIC series 80 Wagon. This bigger brand of brute is equipped with a 3.0L twin-turbocharged petrol engine, mounted to a ZF transmission and electronic four-wheel drive system, produces 280 hp and 420 N-m of torque. Also, it features a class-leading 39-degree approach angle, 25-degree ramp angle, and 33-degree departure angle.
At the onset, it resembles the iconic military vehicles of old that the company used to manufacture while inside, it hosts a number of creature comforts. It boasts of nappa leather interior and an eargasmic musical treat from its entertainment system with built-in subwoofer, just to name a few.
B60 Beaumont
Now, if you think the earlier mentioned SUVs are the only ones BAIC has in its stable, then you’re probably mistaken. As a matter of fact, this BAIC B60 Beaumont is the biggest in its cavalry. This beast of a metal is more than five meters long and packs a seven-seating capacity. This vehicle will be the first in the market to carry a 2.0L diesel hybrid powertrain mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, it features nine drive modes and a full array of ADAS features for optimal performance.
Inside, one can enjoy a slew of features, such as: a four-screen infotainment integration, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.8-inch infotainment screen, smartphone mirroring, wireless charging, digital rear view mirror with integrated recording camera, WiFi hotspot, 220-V power supply, 540-degree panoramic and undercarriage camera. Topping this panache is a panoramic electric sunroof.
Also, a 12+1 Infinity speaker system and active noise canceling add more to a fun and relaxing drive.
