The 2024 Manila International Auto Show just officially opened Wednesday to, not just the local and international media, but to the public, as well.

Thousands trooped down to two of the event’s venues: the World Trade Center and the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

With the opening comes one of the highlights of the four-day affair: the kickoff of the United Asia Automotive Group Inc. (UAAGI) Performance Center.

For the whole duration of the event, UAAGI is creating its own “universe” wherein participants can personally view all the vehicles of the various brands under the company, namely: Foton, Chery, BAIC and premium Swedish-Chinese marque Lynk & Co. Here, visitors of the show get to fully imbue themselves with the quality and performance of the vehicles through the various test drives being conducted by the designated instructors.

The centralized test drive arena allows prospective car buyers to translate these static displays into an immersive test drive experience. This not only transports them into the heart of the action, but also allows them to acquaint themselves first-hand with the vehicles.

The facility also has an air-conditioned lounge where visitors can relax and cool down from the summer heat.

According to UAAGI chairman, Rommel Sytin, the UAAGI Performance Center is aimed to provide participants with a wholly immersive experience that allows them to go beyond static displays.

The facility is an avenue wherein participants get to truly connect with the vehicles and test their capabilities, while at the same time feel the exhilaration of driving them.

“It’s a testament to our commitment to customer satisfaction,” said Sytin.

Brief yet great immersive experience

The UAAGI Performance Center is a 1,500-sqm test drive area situated right in front of the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

According to the Performance Center’s technical director, Marc Soong, the test drive facility is highlighted by the “Terrapod,” a modular off-road system that showcases the 4×4 abilities of the vehicles.

“We have a demo done by instructors and then we let the guests drive through the area,” he said.

There are various sections in the area, particularly, the Gymkhana and the 4×4 sectors.

For the Gymkhana section, Soong said that it’s just a short loop wherein people can get a feel of the car without going through traffic.

“Meanwhile, for the 4×4 track, it has an up and over, side slope and a seesaw,” he continued.

After the first few days of the test drive activities, Soong said that they have already received a lot of good feedback from the participants after experiencing the vehicles being tried around the area.

“Reception is great, so far,” he said.

He continued, “There are customers who have been loyal to brands like Foton since they have already purchased their vehicles before.”

“As for the other brands, there were a lot of people who were surprised with the great prices and performances of the vehicles.”

The same positive response is most likely expected today as the Manila International Auto Show finally culminates its spectacular four-day run.
