Talk of the Town: Better to be invited than to gatecrash
Comment on “Better to be invited than to gatecrash,” (With Due Respect by Artemio V. Panganiban, 4/15/24) via www.inquirer.net:
Even noble causes could be perverted. Human rights started off with righteous intention of protecting the common man from the overreach of tyrannical governments. Now it is unabashedly invoked even by known outlaws, anarchists, terrorists, perverts and what have you, probably more so often than by those who deservedly should. For instance, who knows that in some places it is considered a serious violation of human rights if you deny a man who declares himself a woman from using women’s toilet? That a parent could go to prison if he dared deny his underage child his supposed right to chop off his genitalia because the child thinks he’s a girl. Hahaha.
