1-5 points difference is hardly significant, the more than 40 percent self-rated poverty (especially when the borderline poor are added) or even the government poverty incidence of 22 percent, are much higher than the poverty incidence in Thailand, Vietnam, and Indonesia, less than 10 percent.

With a high percentage of Filipinos living below poverty, hunger will always be an ever-present situation. It varies only in the number of meals one can eat daily. Some could be eating three times on a meager meal but others could be less than that, and even worse.
