Belga confident ‘tables will turn’
Beau Belga, Rain or Shine’s foremost weapon throughout the Philippine Cup, found himself firing blanks in the Elasto Painters’ 116-99 loss to TNT in the PBA Philippine Cup quarterfinals on Friday night.
The veteran big man was limited to just five points, finishing the contest at Smart Araneta Coliseum with a head-scratching 2-for-10 shooting.
Belga admitted he was troubled over lackluster performance, but he was far from distressed.
“[The shots] just weren’t falling. Those were makeable,” he told reporters after a lengthy stay in the team’s dugout. “You have to credit the TNT defense, they have scouts who studied everything we do, and today they were successful.”
“We’re in a series, in a best-of-three, with the burden of being eliminated on Sunday. But we still have a chance,” he pointed out.
Belga said what Rain or Shine should be worrying about is the Tropang Giga’s top guns. “As coach (Yeng Guiao) said, they have been playing with high efficiency,” he said of Calvin Oftana, Roger Pogoy and even Kelly Williams.
“Confidence is on TNT’s side, but if we win on Sunday, the tables will turn,” Belga added. INQ
