3 in 5 German firms in PH still optimistic

About three in every five, or 58 percent, of German companies operating in the Philippines are optimistic, saying their business situation is “better.”

This was based on the results of the Spring 2025 AHK World Business Outlook Survey conducted by the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI). Data were collected from March 17 to April 11.

“This continued confidence in the Philippine market reflects the deepening strength of German-Philippine business ties,” said Marian Majer, chair of the GPCCI policy and advocacy group.

“But with that optimism comes the clear need for policy consistency and regulatory stability to sustain momentum,” Majer said in a statement on Thursday.

The figure remains unchanged from the previous survey, which was conducted from Sept. 23 to Oct. 16, 2024.

But compared with the Spring 2024 survey released in May last year, the latest study marks a significant improvement.

Back then, only 47 percent of firms said they were in a better business situation.

Despite the steady optimistic outlook, the GPCCI flagged several emerging concerns.

These include the recent United States tariff policy, a potential global recession, ongoing trade tensions and the upcoming Philippine elections.
