Aboitiz unit to energize over 1,000 DITO towers

AdventEnergy, the retail electricity supply arm of Aboitiz Power Corp., has sealed a deal to power more than 1,000 cell sites of DITO Telecommunity.

Aboitiz Power said Thursday the deal was entered under the retail aggregation program (RAP). This enables enterprises with multiple facilities that share a common area to pool their demand in order to hit the 500-kilowatt minimum threshold.

Under the pact, the Aboitiz group will energize a total of 1,642 cell towers deployed in the Greater Manila Area, South Luzon and North Luzon. The towers account for a demand of 13.8 megawatts.

“Partnering with DITO Telecommunity allows us to showcase how energy solutions can power critical industries such as telecommunications, reliably and at scale,” AdventEnergy president James Yu said in a statement.

Eric Alberto, president and CEO of DITO Telecommunity, said that their partnership with Aboitiz ensures uninterrupted connectivity for the company’s 15 million subscribers.

AdventEnergy has more than 500 business facilities across the Philippines that depend on its energy solutions.

The company earlier said it would spend about P1.8 billion to expand its portfolio with solar power systems and hybrid solar-battery energy storage projects.

Aboitiz Power, meanwhile, has operations in power generation, distribution, retail electricity services, and distributed energy.

The Aboitiz group reported earlier that its core net income plunged to P12.8 billion in the first half of 2025. This, as it realized the full impact of depreciation and interest expenses of GNPower Dingingin Ltd. Co.

Its beneficial earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization also fell by 6 percent to P34.1 billion from P36.3 billion.
