AboitizPower bags 30-MW deal for Negros utility

Aboitiz Power Corp. (AboitizPower) emerged as the winning bidder for Northern Negros Electric Cooperative’s (Noneco) 30-megawatt power supply agreement.

The electricity producer on Wednesday said it had sealed a 15-year supply deal with the Noneco after putting in the best offer in a recent competitive selection process.

Under the agreement, AboitizPower would source the 10-megawatt (MW) mid-merit supply from Aboitiz Solar Power Inc. (ASPI). Meanwhile, the 20-MW baseload capacity would come from GNPower Mariveles Energy Center (GMEC).

The agreement still needs approval from the Energy Regulatory Commission.

Noneco delivers electricity to consumers in Victorias, Manapla, Cadiz City, Sagay, Escalante and San Carlos as well as Toboso, E.B. Magalona and Calatrava.

“We are honored that Noneco has chosen AboitizPower to deliver a 30 MW combined supply that will sustain communities and business alike,” said Gerard Roxas, vice president at AboitizPower.

“By supplying dependable baseload power and solar energy, we are providing a balanced solution that addresses the dual need for sustainability and reliability,” Roxas said in a statement.

Noneco board president Nicola Camara said the “steady supply at competitive rates” would further spur the region’s economic growth.
