The pharmaceutical arm of Ayala Healthcare Holdings Inc. (AC Health) has broken ground for a new warehouse in Cavite province as part of preparations to expand its capacity to manufacture and distribute medicine.

AC Health on Friday said the new IE Medica warehouse would be fully operational by 2026.

“This groundbreaking is more than just a symbol of expansion; it represents our commitment to operational excellence and the delivery of end-to-end supply chain solutions that ensure quality, efficiency and growth,” IE Medica chief operating officer Ma. Victoria Sugapong said in a statement.

Once completed, the facility that will rise within Cavite Technopark is expected to expand IE Medica’s inventory and streamline the product distribution process. AC Health did not disclose the potential size of the warehouse.

Founded in 2007, IE Medica currently imports and distributes pharmaceutical products, including medicine, food supplements and medical devices.

AC Health acquired a minority stake in the company in 2019 to give its healthcare services a boost, particularly by directly providing products for the Generika Pharmacy network.

AC Health likewise bought a minority shareholding in MedEthix, IE Medica’s affiliated distribution firm, the same year.

“This commitment to operational excellence … is about ensuring that we continue to expand, we remain agile and responsive to the healthcare needs of Filipinos, especially as we grow our portfolio,” AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo said.
