AirAsia moving all int’l flights to Naia Terminal 1
AirAsia Philippines will transfer all its international flights to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) Terminal 1 starting March 29. This is part of a broader terminal reassignment program at the country’s main gateway.
In an advisory on Wednesday, the low-cost carrier said that all international operations of AirAsia Philippines and AirAsia Malaysia will transfer from Naia Terminal 3.
This shift will affect 10 international routes operated by AirAsia Philippines and the Manila-Kuala Lumpur route of AirAsia Malaysia. The transfer covers check-in, boarding and baggage claim.
The move is part of the ongoing terminal reassignment scheme of New Naia Infrastructure Corp. (NNIC). The Ramon Ang-led private operator of Naia aims to optimize terminal capacity and improve passenger flow.
“Only the terminal will be changed while the flight schedule remains the same,” Air Asia said.
Among the affected departures from Terminal 1 are AirAsia Philippines flights to Narita (Japan), Da Nang and Hanoi (Vietnam), Taipei and Kaohsiung (Taiwan), Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Bangkok (Thailand) and Hong Kong and Macau (China).
AirAsia Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur flights, including inbound services from this destinations will likewise operate from Terminal 1 beginning March 29.
Affected guests will be notified through their registered email addresses and mobile numbers. Flight status may be checked via the AirAsia MOVE app or through the airline’s website.
AirAsia Philippines said its domestic flights will continue to operate from Naia Terminal 2, with no changes to current services.
Apart from AirAsia, NNIC has ordered the transfer of Air China, China Eastern, Vietnam Airlines, Royal Brunei and Shenzhen Airlines from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3.
Japan Airlines will make the transfer effective April 1.
