AirAsia reopens more flights from Cebu

AirAsia Philippines is strengthening its footprint in Visayas by reopening three domestic and two international routes from Cebu.
Beginning Sept. 3, guests flying to Iloilo, Caticlan, Davao, Kuala Lumpur and Macau via Mactan Cebu International Airport may book their tickets via the MOVE app or airasia.com.
Flights to these destinations are expected to commence on Nov. 15 this year, utilizing Airbus A320 aircraft.
As the gateway to Central Visayas, AirAsia is banking on Metro Cebu’s strong market demand, citing the Department of Tourism Region 7’s report of tourist arrivals hitting 5.1 million in 2024.
“Cebu remains a major driver in realizing our growth story in the Philippines. We recognize the value of this very important route, connecting via Cebu to key domestic and international leisure markets. We look forward to further broadening opportunities in the tourism sector, helping generate jobs and ultimately contributing to inclusive economic growth. This initiative also allowed us to welcome new all-star pilots, cabin crew and ramp agents who will augment the manpower requirements,” AirAsia Philippines president and CEO Suresh Bangah said in a press statement.
The reopening of the Cebu hub is seen to come at the perfect time, coinciding with the start of the “ber” months—a peak season when more guests plan their holiday travels.
AirAsia said it remained “committed to fulfill its brand mission of democratizing air travel by offering the best-value fares, coupled with a series of exciting promotional sales for our guests flying to and from Cebu.”
