Basic Energy, AC Mobility collab on EV charging

Basic Energy Corp. has teamed up with the Ayala group’s AC Mobility to increase the availability of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.

Through their partnership, both companies will co-develop and operate EV charging stations in select fuel stations.

The effort will initially cover Total stations along the northbound side of South Luzon Expressway in Sta Rosa, Laguna; Total North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) in Apalit, Pampanga; and Ecooil Edsa in Mandaluyong City.

These will feature co-branded Basic RePower–ACMobility charging facilities.

Basic Energy said the tie-up will also explore the potential deployment of more charging stations across the country.

CEO Oscar de Venecia, Jr. said the group’s partnership with ACMobility mirrors their “strong commitment to advancing clean energy and sustainable transport.”

In a separate statement, the Department of Energy has issued key policies to support the growth of the local EV sector.

These include the issuance of the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Development Plan Integration Circular, the upcoming public consultation on mandatory EV charging station installations for designated establishments and the amended EV recognition guidelines. The latter which streamline registration procedures and clarify compliance requirements for industry stakeholders.
