BDO sets new 9-month profit record high at P63.6B
BDO Unibank Inc. set a new record for its nine-month net income at P63.6 billion in 2026, up from P63.1 billion a year earlier, as stronger lending and improved asset quality supported its core businesses.
The Sy family-led bank said on Friday that its net income grew by about 0.8 percent despite a challenging economic environment. Return on equity stood at 13.1 percent.
“The bank continued its strong operational performance, supported by robust loan growth, double-digit pre-provision operating profit growth and further improvement in asset quality,” the bank said.
Gross customer loans expanded by 16 percent to P4.1 trillion, outpacing the banking industry’s 11-percent growth. All lending segments recorded double-digit increases.
BDO said its bigger loan portfolio helped lift net interest income by 11 percent year-on-year.
Preprovision operating profit increased by 10 percent, supported by loan growth and controlled spending.
Operating expense growth stayed within single-digit levels, while noninterest income rose by 3 percent.
Total deposits increased by 11 percent, with current and savings account deposits growing by 5 percent.
Asset quality improved alongside the expansion in lending. The nonperforming loan (NPL) ratio declined to 1.6 percent from 1.77 percent a year earlier, while the NPL coverage ratio remained at 132 percent.
Shareholders’ equity grew by 6 percent. Book value per share likewise increased by 6 percent to P123.6, while the common equity Tier 1 ratio stood at 12.6 percent.
BDO said its diversified businesses and financial position would support its pursuit of growth opportunities amid changing market conditions.
The bank ranked as the country’s largest in terms of total assets, loans, deposits and trust funds under management, based on published statements of condition as of June 30, 2026.
