Berde Renewables bags 8.4-MW supply deal

Berde Renewables Inc. has secured a supply deal to energize three shopping malls and an agro-industrial park in Mindanao.
The company on Thursday said the power purchase agreement accounts for 8.4 megawatts (MW) in electricity generating capacity.
For this, Berde Renewables will build a solar facility. The project is designed to generate about 13 million kilowatt-hours of energy.
Once completed, it would provide supply to KCC Mall Gensan, KCC Mall Marbel and KCC Mall Zamboanga as well as the Biotech Farms agro-industrial facility in South Cotabato.
KCC Malls has been expanding its presence in the retail market in Mindanao, serving millions of shoppers.
Biotech Farms, meanwhile, has operations in livestock, feed milling and food production.
“Berde Renewables has been building momentum in the country’s clean energy transition and today, we are accelerating that shift to a new peak,” Patrick Zhu, president and cofounder of Berde Renewables, said in a statement.
The government hopes to increase renewables’ contribution in the electricity generation mix to 35 percent by 2030.
At present, its share stands at 22 percent. It is optimistic that more businesses will shift to renewable energy.
