BIZ BUZZ: ACC top guys keep pay
Top management of Alabang Country Club Inc. (ACC) will keep their job and, perhaps more importantly, their pay, after all.
Indeed, despite attempts by some members to overturn a high-level decision on management compensation, the resolution approving the renewal of the current management contract will stay, at least for now.
This despite the opposition from some concerned club members who had said that the package was just too high, citing the need for greater prudence this year when costs are escalating amid the Middle East War.
Also, they said that because the club is a nonprofit organization, it should not spend more than it should.
To recall, the opposition to the proposed compensation package centered around the proposed salary of the top officials, which was estimated at around P500,000 a month.
But then there are also other officials who believe that a “capable and visionary individual” was needed at the helm of one of the country’s most exclusive clubs, especially as it is about to celebrate its jubilee in 2028.
The current board also stressed in their letter to the club members that they had exercised “all the necessary due diligence and circumspection” before finally deciding on the “reasonableness and wisdom” of the questioned compensation package.
Thus, looks like the club can move on from the latest skirmish.
All that’s left to do is for top management to prove that they are very well worth the expense.
