BIZ BUZZ: Another Lexus for a champion
Miguel Tabuena made history when he lifted the International Series (IS) Philippines trophy in front of his friends, family and ecstatic home crowd at the Sta. Elena Golf and Country Club, after beating a tough field that included top international golfers Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed and Louis Oosthuizen.
The 31-year-old—now ranked third in the IS, which is a pathway to the cash-rich LIV Golf Tour—pocketed $360,000 or about P21 million in winnings, but his prizes did not stop there.
Tabuena was likewise handed the symbolic key to a brand new Lexus LBX (hybrid) worth P2.5 million as a special bonus during the victory dinner held in his honor by Lexus Philippines chair Alfred Ty and Lexus Philippines president Masando Hashimoto at the Grand Hyatt.
Sharing Tabuena’s joy were top executives of Lexus Philippines, Toyota Motor Philippines and Sta. Elena as well as his family, friends and his team of swing and physical conditioning coaches.
The Lexus LBX is his fourth Lexus.
Since becoming brand ambassador in 2020, he also received a Lexus GX, Lexus LM and then bought his own Lexus GX.
For Lexus, Tabuena is the ideal ambassador as he embodies the same values as the upscale brand of the Toyota Group —power (in his swings), performance and precision (in his golf game) and passion (in the sport).
Congratulations!
