BIZ BUZZ: BDO Pay pays off

Emmanuel John Abris

Going cashless is one thing. Going cashless without having to constantly cash in is another.

That convenience has earned BDO Pay the title of “Best Digital Wallet” in the Philippines at The Asian Banker Philippine Awards 2026, as digital payments increasingly become part of Filipinos’ everyday routines.

Unlike standalone e-wallets, BDO Pay lets users tap directly into their BDO accounts and cards. This means customers can pay in stores, transfer money, settle bills and check balances without first loading funds into the app.

The Asian Banker said BDO Pay stood out for combining functionality, customer adoption and integration into the bank’s ecosystem, allowing the digital wallet to go beyond payments and become part of customers’ daily banking habits.

There is another perk for those tired of watching transfer fees eat into their money: BDO Pay users can send funds through InstaPay and PESONet without fees. Customers can also use the app to split bills.

For BDO, the recognition comes as banks race to make their apps more useful for transactions that customers once needed separate platforms to accomplish.
