BIZ BUZZ: From BSP to Billease

From watching over the country’s central bank to helping steer a lender: Former Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Deputy Governor Eduardo Bobier is taking on a new gig at Billease Bank.

Bobier has been elected an independent director of Billease Bank Inc., formerly Rural Bank of Sta. Maria (Ilocos Sur) Inc. and the banking arm of consumer finance and buy-now-pay-later platform Billease, subject to BSP confirmation.

He brings more than 30 years of central banking experience to the board, including stints in the BSP Treasury Department and as head of the Comptrollership Subsector.

His most recent post was deputy governor for the Corporate Services Sector, where he oversaw the BSP’s control, budget and administrative functions.

Now, Bobier is moving to the other side of the table as Billease folds its banking operations under the Billease name and expands its lineup of credit, savings and deposit products.
